3D Mapping and Topography Analysis

3D Mapping and Topography Analysis

Step 1: Pre-Flight Planning (max 300 ha/day/drone)

We begin by assessing your location and defining the survey area using satellite imagery and field boundaries.
Flight paths are optimised for efficient coverage and data accuracy depending on the survey type

3D Mapping sample flight plan
Step 2: Drone Survey Execution
  • Flight Speed: ~10 mph

  • Flight Height: 110 meters

  • Coverage: ~0.96 hectares per minute

  • Details: Involves capturing overlapping images from different angles for 3D reconstruction. Moderate speeds and higher altitude to cover terrain efficiently.

Step 3: Data Upload & Processing

The larger the Ha area, the longer the upload and data processing takes.  Whilst the process is largely automated it does require our judgment at certain key stages.  These are typical times for upload and processing a 100 Ha: -

  • 6-8 hours) Upload imagery and create a 3D Mesh and DSM.

  • (1-2 hours) Analyse terrain for elevation, slope, and contours.

  • (1 hour) Export Contour Maps for field planning and infrastructure development.

Step 4: Report Generation

Output/Report

  • 3D Surface Models: Visual 3D model of the terrain.

  • Digital Terrain Model (DTM): Ground elevation map excluding vegetation.

  • Contour Maps: Elevation contours for infrastructure planning.

File Type Options

  • 3D Models: OBJ, GeoTIFF (.tif)

  • DTM & Contour Maps: SHP, DXF, CSV
